John Murphy
My husband, John Murphy, has been a reserve deputy with the Pontotoc County Sheriff's Office for four years. In that time, he has logged over 2,500 hours of volunteer service and made 82 arrests including 34 for DUI. He has all the rights, responsibilities and hazards of a full time officer but does it all without pay. In fact, under John's direction, the reserves were able to raise enough money to purchase a new pursuit-rated Tahoe for the Sheriff's office for the use of the reserves. They have continued to raise money to purchase safety equipment as well. This was an idea formulated and implemented by John in order to ensure the reserves have a safe vehicle in which to patrol. They formerly took whatever vehicle was available, typically a pickup over 10 years old with over 200,000 miles on it. John loves Pontotoc County and serves his community as an officer of the law as well as in other civic volunteer positions including being elected to the Pontotoc County Fair Board and a Past Master of the Ada Masonic Lodge.

Kelvin Hall
Kelvin Hall has 22 years of experience in law enforcement. During this time he has worked in various roles to include but not limited to: basic patrol, child abuse investigations, sexual assualt investigations, and he is currently an instructor for the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training. Every year Kelvin trains about 500 officers in the basic academy in areas of defensive tactics, patrol, and many other topics. He trains police officers how to win in life and death situations. Not only does he teach in the class room, but many cadets often seek his advice and opinions after class and even after they have left the basic academy. He never turns away an officer who needs someone to guide them. Kelvin makes a difference in the lives of many people and we should show him how much we appreciate what he does for all of us.
